In this course, films will be approached from a variety of perspectives: as the work of particular directors, as genre pieces, as cultural artifacts, and as works of art. The course will also examine the economic, political, and ideological aspects of the motion picture industry. Note from instructor: -Mature Content Warning- This class requires film screenings. Some films seen in this class include harsh language, nudity, depictions of violence, smoking and drug use, self-harm, and potentially disturbing themes. You will be expected to watch ALL the assigned films, so DO NOT take this course if you are unwilling to watch a film with mature content.
