PD:Practicum Supervision, EDCI 505-12, CRN 40844, 1-3 PD Credits, Fall 2019 (8/26/19-12/13/19)
This course is part of on-going professional development within the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Idaho. This course helps to develop mentoring skills and understanding of the standards and dispositions associated the supervision of pre-service teachers. It is aimed at developing educational professionals as curricular leaders and leaders in professional development for student interns. Students will receive one credit for each practicum student supervised provided the following assignments are completed for each student: 1. Provide opportunities for the practicum student to observe and interact with students in a K-12 setting for a minimum of 40 hours. 2. Guide and supervise the practicum student in the teaching of a lesson to K-12 students. 3. Provide ongoing feedback to the practicum student to help them improve teaching skills and develop a sense of professionalism. 4. Complete an evaluation based on the College of Education’s standards and dispositions. This course is offered to in-service teachers who supervisor education practicum students.
