Golden currant is an Idaho native shrub. Growing to a mature height of 10 feet at a medium growth rate, it typically grows best in moist, well-drained sites. Golden currant will grow in full sun or partial shade. Yellow flowers are produced in the spring and turn reddish in the summer. An edible fruit is produced and can be yellow to red-orange to black and is a popular food source for both humans and wildlife. This species is drought resistant and comes back successfully after fires.
