Common purple lilac has a moderate growth rate and reaches 10-15’ in height. Its dense growth and adaptability to a wide range of environments make it an excellent choice for outer rows of windbreaks. Their large, fragrant blossoms are beautiful additions to landscaping in the spring. Lilacs do well on alkaline or acidic soils, are highly resistant to drought and cold and are very long lived. This species is a popular ornamental.
