Arctic blue willow is a non-native shrub that grows into very dense thickets 10-15' high, making it a good choice for a living snow fence or hedge. It’s also ideal for planting as a single-row windbreak or in exterior rows of multiple-row windbreaks. Arctic blue willow has a moderate growth rate, prefers moist to wet, well-drained soils. It is tolerant of standing water and is a good choice for riparian areas with partial shade or full sun. Commonly browsed by wildlife, it is easily controlled by pruning.
