Kinnikinnick (20 cui Forb)

Kinnikinnick is found everywhere in the United States. Also called bearberry, this species is a mat-forming ground cover that does well in full sun. Preferring welldrained soils, it is adaptable to many sites and can be just what is needed to spruce up a retaining wall or rock bed. This species is a drought tolerant, fast grower that reaches a max height of 6" and a max width of 3'. It’s a great low-maintenance plant that benefits insects and wildlife. Dark green glossy leaves on brown woody branches support pink and white flowers in the spring and bright red festive berries in the fall and winter.
